IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for submitting applications is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are for the 2026-27 academic year . Interested students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They will also need to list two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to assess a candidate’s aptitude, field-specific knowledge, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility and Scores
Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. This includes national tests like Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be required. English language proficiency test scores from TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination are also necessary.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
