The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27.
Application Period and Eligibility
The application portal is open until March 30, 2026 . The deadline for submission is 4 PM. Non-Indian nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring English language proficiency. Two referees who can provide recommendation letters are also required. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.
Academic and Language Proficiency Scores
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include:
- Indian Tests: Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE).
- International Tests: Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Proficiency in English will also be evaluated through scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will admit students based on their performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
