IIT Delhi has opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested students can apply online at international.iitd.ac.in.
The application portal will close on March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m. Non-Indian nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
Referees will be asked to assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills. This information is detailed in the official notification.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national tests such as Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
Scores from international examinations like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted admission requirements.
Selection Process
Admission to IIT Delhi programs will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.
