Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications must be submitted online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.
Further English proficiency tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination may be required. The final admission decision will be based on performance in an interview conducted by a faculty committee from the relevant discipline. Candidates with strong academic records are invited for this interview.
