The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. International students can apply. The deadline for submission is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Admissions for International Students
Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. The official application portal is located at international.iitd.ac.in.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters.
Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude. They will also assess proficiency in their chosen field. The potential for research and independent thinking is evaluated. English language skills are also considered.
Academic and English Proficiency Scores
Candidates may need to submit scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
Scores from international standardized tests are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Proof of English language proficiency is required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be accepted.
Selection Process
Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records receive interview invitations. These interviews are conducted by faculty committees from the relevant disciplines.
