IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested students can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility and Application Process

The programs are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will be asked to evaluate candidates on their aptitude. This includes proficiency in their chosen field, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Academic Requirements

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International applicants can also submit scores from examinations like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Candidates must also demonstrate English language proficiency. Accepted test scores include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Criteria

IIT Delhi will select students based on their performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline. The interview assesses overall suitability for the program.
