IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application window is for international students for the 2026-27 academic year. Interested candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in .

The deadline for submitting applications is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . This applies to all international applicants, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills, according to the official notification.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program. International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be accepted.

Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will offer admission based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The interview committee will assess the candidate’s suitability for the program.
