IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi has opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility and Application Process

The programs are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters.

Referees will be asked to assess candidates’ aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking abilities, and English language skills. The application portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026 .

Academic Requirements

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national-level entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) scheme.

International examination scores are also accepted. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English proficiency test scores are also mandatory.

Accepted English tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Candidates may also submit scores from other recognized language proficiency tests.

Admission Selection

Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The interview panel will evaluate candidates’ suitability for the program.
