Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are being accepted for the academic years 2026-27.
Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in . The portal closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
The notification states referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and oral and written English skills.
Academic and Language Proficiency
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
International English language proficiency tests are also mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
