IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply online through the institute’s international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency.
Application Requirements
Candidates must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude and research potential. They will also evaluate English language skills.
Academic and Entrance Exam Scores
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national entrance examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Applicants may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. These interviews will be conducted by faculty committees.
