IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.

Admission Process

Interested candidates must apply through IIT Delhi’s official international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in . The application portal will close at 4 PM on March 30, 2026. Applicants need to provide a statement on their English proficiency. They must also submit the names of two referees who will provide recommendation letters.

These referees will be asked to assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English communication abilities, according to the institute’s notification.

Eligibility and Requirements

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs at IIT Delhi may require scores from national tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International students may also submit scores from tests like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

In addition to academic and standardized test scores, candidates must submit results from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Criteria

Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline. The interview panel will evaluate the applicant’s suitability for the program.
