IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for international students seeking admission to its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for applications is March 30, 2026 .

Application Details

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

The application portal will close at 4 pm on March 30, 2026. Applicants must declare their English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters.

Admission Requirements

Referees will assess candidates on overall aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. The notification states that referees will comment on these areas.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national examinations like the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Junior Research Fellowship, University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Department of Science and Technology (DST) INSPIRE program.

International applicants may also submit scores from examinations such as the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Additionally, English language proficiency test scores from TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examinations are required.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. The institute will invite students with strong academic records to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
