IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-2027.

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Interested students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendation letters.

Referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This assessment is part of the official notification.

IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program. These are required for PhD and PG program eligibility.

International examination scores are also considered. Candidates may submit scores from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other equivalent language tests may also be accepted.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will make admission decisions based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive an interview invitation.

The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. This committee will evaluate candidates further.
