IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.

Admission Details

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can submit their applications online. The application portal is available at international.iitd.ac.in.

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement on their English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Academic Eligibility

While specific academic requirements vary by program, IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.

International applicants may also submit scores from exams like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English Proficiency Tests

Candidates must demonstrate English language proficiency. Accepted test scores include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Proof of proficiency must be submitted with the application.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline. The interview committee evaluates the candidate’s suitability for the program.
