IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications can be submitted online at international.iitd.ac.in . The portal closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will be asked to assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from national or international entrance exams. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
Additionally, English language proficiency test scores are required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will admit students based on their interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews conducted by a faculty committee in the relevant discipline.
