Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application window for the 2026-27 academic year closes on March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM. Prospective students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Eligibility
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done via a self-declaration statement.
Application Requirements
Applicants need to provide details for two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The letters will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Academic and Entrance Exam Scores
For PhD and PG programs, IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Applicants must also submit scores from English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
