Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals can apply for admission to PhD and PG courses for the academic year 2026-27. Prospective students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in . The portal will remain open until 4 pm on March 30, 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency.
Application Requirements
Candidates are required to submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Academic and Test Scores
IIT Delhi may require scores from national and international examinations. These can include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
International applicants may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline. The committee will assess candidates for their overall aptitude and suitability for the program.
