IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Applications are open to foreign national students for the 2026-2027 academic year. The application portal closes on March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m. Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.

Candidates must submit English language proficiency test scores. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be considered.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Those with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct these interviews.
