IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for international students seeking admission to PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply via the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. They will need to submit a self-declaration of their language skills.

Application Requirements

Candidates must provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills. The application portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026 .

Academic Qualifications and Scores

For PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from national-level entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and the DST INSPIRE program. International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Scores from other recognized language tests may also be considered.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will conduct admissions based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline. The committee will evaluate the candidate’s suitability for the program.
