Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application window closes on March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.
Interested students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal will remain open until 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants need to provide a statement or self-declaration of English language proficiency. They must also submit the names of two referees who will provide recommendation letters.
Referees will be asked to assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English communication abilities, according to the official notification.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Students with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
