IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. Applications are now being accepted for the academic year 2026-27.

The application portal for foreign nationals will remain open until March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can submit their applications online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

Non-Indian nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done via a self-declaration.

Applicants must also provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters on behalf of the candidate. Referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

Admission Requirements

Admission requirements vary. For PhD programs, candidates may need scores from examinations like the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Other relevant tests include CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE.

For PG programs, specific standardized test scores may be required. These can include international examinations such as the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency test scores are also necessary. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions primarily on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by faculty members from the relevant departments.
