Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.
The official application portal is international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will provide recommendation letters.
Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills. This information comes from an official IIT Delhi notification.
Admission may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International tests like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered. English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Students with strong academic records will receive interview invitations.
The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. This is according to the institute’s official statement.
