Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign national students can apply through the official website, international.iitd.ac.in. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Admission Details
The application portal is open for the academic year 2026-27. Non-Indian nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters commenting on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.
Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) scheme.
International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted. English language proficiency test scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination are required.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive an invitation. The interview committee will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
