The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM .
Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Prospective students must submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of English language proficiency. Two referees are required to submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Academic and Language Proficiency
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national-level entrance exams like GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores from GRE and GMAT are also accepted.
Furthermore, candidates must submit scores from English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examinations. Other language tests may also be considered.
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
