The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM. Prospective students can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal.
Eligibility and Application Requirements
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English language proficiency. Two referees must also be identified to provide recommendation letters.
The referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills. This assessment is a critical component of the application process.
Academic Qualifications and Testing
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs may require scores from specific standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International examination scores are also considered for admission. These include:

Admission Process
IIT Delhi will grant admission based on candidate performance in an interview. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited to participate in this interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
