IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs. International students can apply until March 30, 2026 .

Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. Prospective students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in. The application portal closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria

Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. They need to provide a self-declaration of their English language skills. Two referees who can submit recommendation letters are also required.

Referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude. They will also evaluate proficiency in the chosen field and research potential. The recommendation letters will comment on independent thinking and English communication skills.

Admission Requirements

Admission requirements may include scores from specific entrance examinations. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The DST INSPIRE fellowship is also recognized.

International examination scores are accepted. This includes Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. Interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members. The committee will evaluate candidates within their chosen discipline.
