Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application window is open for international students for the 2026-27 academic year.
The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Interested students can submit their applications online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Eligibility and Application Requirements
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to name two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.
Admission Criteria
IIT Delhi will consider performance in interviews for admission. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee.
Applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
Proficiency in English must also be demonstrated. This can be done through scores from tests like:
- TOEFL
- IELTS
- TOEIC
- OPI/OPIC
- Cambridge English Examination
- Other recognized language tests
