IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign national students can apply. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Applications are accepted for the academic years 2026-27. Interested candidates should visit the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in.

The application portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026. Non-Indian nationals are eligible. This includes individuals with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to list two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters.

Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude. They will assess proficiency in the chosen field. Potential for research and independent thinking are also evaluated. English language proficiency is a key factor for referees to address.

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from specific tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests may also be accepted.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will offer admission based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview.

The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline. This interview assesses a candidate’s suitability for the program.
