Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Prospective students can submit their applications online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility for International Applicants
Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration statement.
Application Requirements
Candidates need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The referees will assess the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International applicants can also submit scores from examinations like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English proficiency test scores from TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination are also required.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. This interview will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
