IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. Applications are accepted through the official website at international.iitd.ac.in. The deadline for submitting applications is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Eligibility Criteria

The institute is accepting applications from foreign nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency.

Application Requirements

Applicants need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills. This information is detailed in the official notification.

Academic and Language Proficiency Tests

Submission of scores from specific standardized tests may be required. For PhD and PG programs, these can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International tests like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.

Furthermore, candidates must demonstrate English language proficiency. Accepted test scores include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.

Admission Process

Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive an invitation to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
