IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Eligibility and Application
Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
Referee Requirements
Referees will evaluate candidates based on their overall aptitude, proficiency in their chosen field, research potential, independent thinking skills, and oral and written English ability. This assessment is part of the application review process.
Admission Criteria
IIT Delhi considers various scores for admission. For PhD and PG programs, scores from Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE are relevant. International exam scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.
Selection Process
Final admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their discipline. English proficiency test scores from exams such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination may also be required.
