IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested foreign nationals can apply online at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility and Application

Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. The application portal closes at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026.

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Admission Requirements

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.

Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Additional language tests may be accepted.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on candidate performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic disciplines.
