IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Details for International Students

The application portal will remain open until 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026. Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. They are also permitted to apply for these programs.

Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to evaluate a candidate’s aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Required Examinations and Selection Process

To be considered for admission, candidates may need to submit scores from national-level tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) exam, University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International applicants can also submit scores from exams like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

In addition to academic qualifications and test scores, candidates must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be shown through scores from tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination. The final selection will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.

This admission cycle is for the academic years 2026-27 .
