The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign national students can apply for the 2026-27 academic year. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Admission Details
International candidates can submit applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026. Both Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders are eligible to apply.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They will also need to provide the names of two referees who can supply recommendation letters. These referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Academic Qualifications and Scores
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national-level Indian examinations such as GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE. International students can also submit scores from exams like the GRE or GMAT. English language proficiency test scores from TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination are also mandatory.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will conduct admissions based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee. The committee will assess candidates in their respective disciplines.
