IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for Foreign Students

IIT Delhi has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs . Foreign national students can apply for the academic year 2026-27 . The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM .

International applicants can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi website at international.iitd.ac.in. Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Admission Process and Requirements

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. These referees will be contacted to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may also require scores from standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE

International examinations such as the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted. In addition, candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Criteria

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The interview committee will assess the candidate’s suitability for the program.
