IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for Foreign Nationals – Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from foreign nationals for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , by 4 p.m. Interested students can apply online at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

The admissions are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must provide a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who can submit recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is stated in the official notification.

Admission Requirements

Candidates may need to submit scores from national entrance examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE).

International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.

The application portal is open until March 30, 2026, for the academic year 2026-27. Applications are submitted through the institute’s official international admissions website.
