IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for Foreign Nationals – Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign nationals can apply. The deadline to submit applications is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Interested students can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website.

Eligibility Criteria

The application is open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. They need to provide a self-declaration of their English skills. The application process requires details for two referees. These referees will provide recommendation letters.

Referee Requirements

Referees will assess candidates. They will comment on the applicant’s aptitude. Referee evaluations will cover proficiency in the chosen field. Potential for research and independent thinking will be evaluated. English language proficiency, both written and oral, will also be assessed by referees.

Academic and Test Score Requirements

Candidates may need to submit specific test scores for consideration. These include scores from Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Scores from Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) are also relevant. Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) scores may be required.

International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be considered.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will grant admission based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline. The committee will assess the candidate’s suitability for the program.
