IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for Foreign Nationals

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs . The application window is open to foreign national students for the academic year 2026-27. Interested candidates must submit their applications by March 30, 2026, at 4 PM .

Admission Requirements

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of their English proficiency. They also need to name two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills. This information is detailed in the official admission notification.

Academic and Language Proficiency

Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE. International exam scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.

Proof of English language proficiency is required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests may also be accepted.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interview.
