IIT Delhi PhD/PG Admissions for International Students Open; Deadline March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Admission Details

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.

Application Process

Interested candidates must apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.

Eligibility and Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These can include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

English language proficiency test scores are also necessary. Accepted tests include:

  • TOEFL
  • IELTS
  • TOEIC
  • OPI
  • OPIC
  • Cambridge English Examination

Other language tests may also be considered.

Selection Criteria

Admission will be based on an interview process. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
