IIT Delhi has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can submit their applications online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes candidates who hold Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration. They must also provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.
The referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English language abilities. This assessment is crucial for the admission process.
Admission Requirements
Candidates may need to submit scores from national entrance examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) exam, University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) program.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Additionally, scores from English language proficiency tests are required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interviews. Candidates with strong academic records are invited for this stage.
The application portal closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026. Interested international students should ensure all required documents and scores are submitted before this deadline.
