IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open; Deadline March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Admissions for International Students

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply for doctoral and master’s level programs at IIT Delhi for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are being accepted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026.

Eligibility extends to individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendation letters. The referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include:

  • Indian Tests: GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, DST INSPIRE.
  • International Tests: GRE, GMAT.

Proof of English language proficiency is also required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
