IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.
Admission Process
Applications are submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in . The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Eligibility Requirements
Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program for PhD and PG admission.
International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted. English proficiency test scores from TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination are required.
Selection Criteria
Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
