IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open – Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , by 4 p.m. Interested candidates can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

The admission is open to foreign nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration. They must also provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters on the applicant’s behalf.

Admission Requirements

Referees will evaluate candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. Applicants may need to submit scores from national-level entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.

Application Process

Candidates are required to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. IIT Delhi will base admissions on an interview. Applicants with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. The interview assesses overall suitability for the program.
