IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can submit applications online at international.iitd.ac.in.
The application portal will remain open until 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026, for the academic years 2026-27.
Eligibility Criteria
Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. They need to provide a self-declaration of their English language skills.
Applicants must also list two referees. These referees will provide recommendation letters. The notification states referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will consider scores from national and international entrance exams. These include GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, and DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs. International tests like GRE and GMAT may also be accepted.
Admission offers will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by faculty members from the relevant disciplines.
English Proficiency Tests
Candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be considered.
