IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply online. The application portal will close at 4 p.m. on the deadline date. Interested students should visit international.iitd.ac.in to submit their applications for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. The referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.
English language proficiency test scores from exams like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English are mandatory.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interview.
