IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open | Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can submit their applications online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility and Application Process

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply for the academic year 2026-27. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must declare their English language proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. The application portal closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026 .

Admission Requirements

IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance examinations like Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) can also be considered.

Candidates will also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Criteria

Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel. This panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. The interview aims to evaluate the candidate’s suitability for the program.
