IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for submissions is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.
Application Process
Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
Referees will be asked to assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills, according to official information.
Eligibility Criteria
In addition to academic qualifications, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International examination scores are also considered:
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
English language proficiency test scores are required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Procedure
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with a strong academic record will receive an invitation to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
