IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students . The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can submit applications online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility and Application
The application window is open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.
Academic Requirements
Referees will evaluate candidates on their aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. Admission may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET).
For PhD and PG programs, scores from innovation-focused programs like DST INSPIRE may also be considered. International applicants might submit Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores. English proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, or TOEIC are also required.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by faculty committees in the relevant disciplines.
