IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application window is open to international students for the academic year 2026-27.

The deadline for international applicants is March 30, 2026 , at 4:00 PM. Interested candidates can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

Non-Indian nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency.

Candidates must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency. They will also need to submit the names of two referees. These referees will provide recommendation letters. Referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude and research potential.

Admission Requirements

IIT Delhi may require scores from national and international standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

International applicants may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
