Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Prospective students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website,international.iitd.ac.in. The portal will remain open until 4 PM on March 30, 2026 .
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency.
Candidates are required to provide a self-declaration of their English language proficiency. They must also submit the names of two referees who can provide recommendation letters.
These referees will assess the applicant’s aptitude. They will comment on proficiency in the chosen field. Potential for research and independent thinking will be evaluated. English language skills will also be reviewed.
Admission Requirements
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from specific standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Scores from CSIR or UGC NET are also considered. The DST INSPIRE program is another potential pathway.
International examination scores are accepted. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examinations. Other recognized language tests may also be accepted.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interviews.
